SMUGGLING DUDS UFC 214 GAMBLING GUIDE

Jon Jones is BACK! That’s right, UFC 214 is finally here and after falling from grace once again the former superstar has returned following more enforced time out from UFC competition. This is a stacked card with some serious money to be made, so let’s dive straight in.

UFC 214

MAIN CARD
DANIEL CORMIER (c) Vs JON JONES (LHW)
Over two years in the making, will this rematch produce a different result? Cormier is arguably one of the best wrestlers in the game and has man handled some of the toughest men in MMA. Has he improved enough to get the victory over Jones he so desperately wants? Here’s the thing, even after all the controversy and problems he created for himself, Jon Jones beats even the best fighters on a bad day.
WINNER: Jones
METHOD: Decision

TYRON WOODLEY (c) Vs DAMIAN MAIA (WW)
It is difficult to bet against Damian Maia when his recent performances have been so dominant. He’s up against it in the form of Tyron Woodley, an athlete built like a super hero with impressive wrestling skills and a solid base. Is this the Brazilian’s time? We believe so.
WINNER: Maia
METHOD: Decision

CRIS CYBORG Vs TONYA EVINGER (FW)
Hats off to Evinger for having the guts to step up to the Brazilian powerhouse but this is only going to end one way. Another easy night at the office for Cyborg.
WINNER: Cyborg
METHOD: KO/TKO

ROBBIE LAWLER Vs DONALD CERRONE (WW)
Another amazing bout between two fan favourites that will no doubt produce a contender for Fight of the Night. Fans are hoping for an all-out brawl and you know what? They’ll probably get one.
WINNER: Cerrone
METHOD: KO/TKO

JIMI MANUWA Vs VOLKAN OEZDEMIR (LHW)
Swiss fighter Oezdemir produced the goods in his last outing but can he do the same against such a high level striker in Manuwa? Expect both athletes to go head hunting from the start with the ‘Poster Boy’ and Smuggling Duds team member finding the target first.
WINNER: Manuwa
METHOD: KO/TKO

PRELIM CARD (FX)
RICARDO LAMAS Vs JASON KNIGHT (FW)
Lamas was originally scheduled to face The Korean Zombie but a replacement was found in TUF winner Jason Knight. We’ve gone back and forth with this one and will no doubt change are mind before the bell, but for now we’ll go with Lamas to prevail.
WINNER: Lamas
METHOD: Decision

ALJAMAIN STERLING Vs RENAN BARAO (Catch weight of 140lbs)
Due to Barao’s recent problems cutting weight this contest will be at a catch weight of 140lbs. Will this make a difference? Time will tell but it will certainly be more of a benefit to the Brazilian come fight night.
WINNER: Barao
METHOD: Decision

BRIAN ORTEGA Vs RENATO MOICANO (FW)
Some websites have Ortega as the underdog but this guy has won us a lot of money in the past and we are very loyal so we’ll be sticking with him to do the business against a durable opponent.
WINNER: Ortega
METHOD: KO

ANDRE FILI Vs CALVIN KATTAR (FW)
Can Kattar shine in his UFC debut against the Team Alpha Male fighter? Stranger things have happened, hence why we are going to go for the upset.
WINNER: Kattar
METHOD: Decision

PRELIM CARD (UFC Fight Pass)
KAILLIN CURRAN Vs ALEXANDRA ALBU (STRAW)
Albu hasn’t fought since April 2015, where she won in her UFC debut. This is a seriously long lay-off and could produce a hesitant performance against a seasoned vet in Curran. Curran must go all out if she’s going to remain in the UFC as her losing streak is not doing her any favours. She has a habit of not being aggressive enough and it could prove costly once again.
WINNER: Albu
METHOD: Submission

ERIC SHELTON Vs JARRED BROOKS (FLY)
A much-awaited debut that may fly under the radar here when Brooks steps in against TUF 24 semi-finalist Eric Shelton. We think this could be a decent tear up for sure. Shelton might stand a chance by picking Brooks off but we expect to see Brooks showcasing why the UFC offered him a contract.
WINNER: Brooks
METHOD: Submission

JOSH BURKMAN Vs DREW DOBER (LW)
If Burkman doesn’t win he’ll be getting cut from the UFC for the second time in his career. It really is a case of pulling it out the bag as although his opponent may not be as experienced, he’s certainly no push over.
WINNER: Dober
METHOD: Decision
